Buddha in Nirvana is one of the valuable exhibits of museum. Then we will see Hissar fortress. The remains of an 18th-century fortress occupied until 1924 is located in 30 km west of Dushanbe. Beside the fortress are two plain Madrassah, one dating from the 18th century and the other 19th, and beyond them is the mausoleum of 16th century. After these visits we will depart for Khujand via Istaravshan (280 km, driving 4-5hrs). Drive through the 5km long Istiklal tunnel at 2700m. Lunch in a local Restaurant in Chaihana. In the afternoon drive through the 4,5km long Shakhristan tunnel at 2620m, before arriving in Istaravshan. Although Istarafshan is very close to Khujand, its character is very different in. Whereas Khujand was conquered and reconquered throughout its history, Istaravshan was always rebellious and fought hard for its independence. This history has shaped the character of the local people. Istaravshan is a fascinating city with some of the oldest and most intact Islamic buildings in Tajikistan, including many mosques and several significant madrassa complexes. It is the only city where the traditional street layout in the residential area of the old city has been preserved. Some of the residents can show us ornate woodwork and painted ceilings in their homes, dating back to the 18th century. Istaravshan is also well known for its traditional crafts. Around the bazaar, we will visit the workshops of the blacksmiths (knife makers) and a famous local wood carver. We will have the chance to visit the local bazaar, Hazrat Shah architectural complex, which consists of Hazrat Shah Mausoleum, the grave of brother of Kusam ibn Abbas, Khudayar Valami Mausoleum, and Namazgah Mosque dating back to 19th century. Continue to Mug Teppe, one of the ancient settlements located in Ura-Tube. The city is believed to be founded by King Cyrus in the North-East boundary of his empire. After having seen all that Istaravshan city offers, we will head towards Khujand. Overnight in Khujand.

Standing in a favorable location in the Ferghana valley, Khujand prospered for a long time, becoming rich and building palaces, mosques, and citadels.  In the 13th century, it was conquered and destroyed by the Genghis Khan's army. The Shikh Muslihiddin mosque and mausoleum (XVII-XIX cc), the Arbob palace named after S.
